The Parish Council
There are nine seats on Trull Parish Council. Councillors are elected every four years, and the next elections will be in May 2027.
The Council has one salaried employee (the Parish Clerk). The Clerk is also the Responsible Financial Officer (RFO).
The Council meets on the third Monday of each month at 7.15pm in the Trull Church Community Centre, (the August meeting is provisional only for urgent planning applications).
The Chairman and Vice Chairman are elected at the Annual Meeting of the Council in May.
The agenda for meetings is published on the website and on the official notice-board outside the Geoff Hewett Pavilion at least three working days prior to the meeting.
All Council meetings are open to the public and there is a period set aside before the start of the meeting for members of the public to raise any concerns or ask questions.
Members of the public may raise issues with any councillor or the Parish Clerk outside of meetings and request an issue to be included on the agenda.
Money spent by the Council is raised through the precept – the Parish Council’s share of the council tax. The precept demand goes to the billing authority, Somerset Council, which collects the tax for the Parish Council.
Trull Parish Council’s main responsibilities include:
- Acting as a consultee for planning applications within the parish.
- Managing and maintaining the KGV Playing Field and Geoff Hewett Pavilion.
- Managing and maintaining Trull Green.
- Managing and maintaining the Allotments. To put your name on the waiting list please contact us.
- Reporting footpath issues to the Somerset Rights of Way team through the Parish Paths Liaison Officer.
- Liaising with Somerset Highways Authority over road safety and maintenance.
- Providing Grit Bins.
The Parish Council is also the qualifying body for the Trull and Staplehay Neighbourhood Development Plan which has been produced by The Neighbourhood Plan Group.

Although the Parish Council has limited powers to make decisions, it does have the ability to negotiate with, and influence, other organisations that do make the final decisions such as other tiers of local government, health authorities, and the police.
